When I got back from my 15 day trip I went back to our house to do a final cleaning. I had stayed at a friend's apartment that night and I was dreading seeing my old home. I knew it would be empty, but it was a little weird seeing a real estate sign hanging in front of the house that was full of everything you loved just a few weeks ago. My husband had had cleaners in but I just wanted to check and make sure there was nothing left behind.
They had cleaned up all the rooms and the floors, done a little touch up painting throughout the house and cleaned all the windows. They had taken down all the curtain rods, filled the holes left behind and painted over them. They had cleaned the kitchen and bathroom very, very thoroughly the house looked brand new. As I walked into the kitchen the sun was streaming in the window and it took my breath away. I am going to miss that kitchen. After checking all the rooms and the basement I saw that the movers had done a thorough job. There was nothing left behind and nothing for me to do here. I got out fast before I started to cry. Telling myself here we go, off to get my two kitties and onward to our new home. Of course my kitties were very glad to see me as I was them. I suppose they thought they had been deserted. In fact, they were so glad to see me I felt ashamed that I had left them at all. My guilt complex rearing its head again.
A little about our trip to Paris. My friends warned me I was going to fall in love with the city and they were right. There is something so enchanting and elegant about this city.
The first day in Paris we spent the morning at the Louvre. The Mona Lisa was very disappointing, but when you are in the Louvre you “have” to see it. I do not understand why there is so much attention to this one work of art by Leonardo Da Vinci. Personally, I prefer his works that are in the hallway outside the room of the Mona Lisa. It is just interesting to see how society can create such hype over one work of art. I mean see for yourself, this huge room for one small painting and look at the people crowding in to see it.
Anyway, after we went to see works by Delacroix and Caravaggio, then we went to the Egyptian exhibit because one of my friends loves Egyptian art. The Egyptian exhibit was huge. I've never seen so many Egyptian artifacts in one museum the Louvre has the largest ancient Egyptian exhibit (outside of Egypt) We took many, many photos.
I think this Might Finally Happen
I got the opportunity to go to Paris with some friends this spring I had never been before and I really wanted to go. At the same time, my husband found out his company was transferring their major operation out of the Atlantic Provinces and he was required to head up their new location. The company would provide all the necessary people to pack and ship our belongings and for the sale of our house. My husband was also being sent on a week plus training course. All I had to do was arrange shelter for my two kitties while all this was happening, and I was off to Paris with my friends for 15 days.
As a result of the trip to Paris and my husband's transfer am now looking into applying to the University of Lethbridge for their 1 semester trip to study fine arts abroad. I earned my BA in art history some time ago, but it doesn't matter, the trip is open to students from any field of study and non-students can also take part. They will be required to register in the course and pay the tuition portion of the trip cost the same as students. You don't even require a background in art or French this course is designed to be very accessible to all, the only requirement is that you are over 18. I really think this might finally happen.
I believe that intuition is a spiritual, untaught ability. That good instincts usually tell you what to do long before your head has figured it out. When you listen to the voice inside your head, I mean really listen, you will eventually realize that what you hear is not a thought. It is a message that arises from beyond the mind. Our society is slowly opening to a new prototype and recognizing the mind-body connection.
Have you ever felt that something in your past has guided you toward the path that you are on now, and that you only needed to listen. I have. I suspect that everyone of can look into their past and discover the exact event that put the journey to this life you are presently living into motion. If they really listen to their inner voice.
Lighthouse at Peggy's Cove
I grew up on Canada's east coast and I used to love to hear the mournful wail of the foghorn as it warned incoming boats of the danger. When I was a teenager, we used to go down to Peggy's Cove and stand at the end of the rocks that jut out into the water behind the lighthouse. We would try to outrun the water as the waves pounded in over the rocks. It was very exciting at the time. Not too long later I realized what a dangerous and foolhardy thing this was as people have been washed off the rocks never to be seen again.
I did a lot of dangerous things when I was a teen. A lot of us did and still do. Now that I'm older I wonder why some survive being a teenager while another doing the same thing does not.
